Life as a "Future Student"

So as you all might know, I am a Senior in High School this year! FINALLY! But with that independence, I have learned, comes a lot of responsibility and many important decisions! Everyone always says, "Man i cant wait to get out of high school!" But when I started to have to make all these life-changing decisions, I say "Way not just stay here for a year or two more?!?" I mean, I think we take granted how easy High School and being a "kid" really is. However, despite my want to just sit down and let the decisions be made for me, I have to be an adult(blah) and make them myself.

So I didn't want to do the typical Oxford or Starkville thing that just about EVERY senior makes when they live in Desoto County. So I started looking at colleges not too far and not too close to home. Nashville, TN was the first area that popped into my mind. I Have family out there (my sister and her familty and then my moms sister and her family). It isn't too far away, only about 4 hours. But there is still one big problem! There are like 3294729837418 colleges in the Nashville area! Ha Which one do I pick?!? A public university, a private college, a community college?? WHAT?! So during this stage of my college search I'm like...

FREAKING OUT MAN! I mean, wouldn't you?! I mean not only do I have all these colleges to choose from, but i have no proccess of elimination. I have NO idea what I want to do or major in. Do I want to live in a dorm?? Or do I want to live with my sister?? So i want to have my own Apartment?? How will I afford that?? DO i want to have a job all through college?? Can you tell I am a bit detail oriented?? Geez as I am writing this I am just thinking about how much I have to do and then I'm like....

Wow! I think I am over-reacting. Except not because here it is...November of my senior year. And I have yet to  apply to ANY colleges! What the heck man?! PS. The people in Starbucks are probably looking at me like I am a crazy person because I keep laughing out loud at myself as I type this:)

So I suppose, Prayer is one thing I can ask for from you all. Prayer that I don't loose my mind trying to find a school, while still going to school, and working full-time. Ain't no thang though;) I am trying to be positive and find peace in the madness of life! This is my trying to be positive face....

Ya know?! ha
PS...Mark, If you read this...Animal Rights just came on while listening to my music! Now I'm
P-U-M-P-E-D! Ha. TIME TO GO COLLEGE SEARCHING..on the internet!

Here I go, MACY!

Can You Tell That I Am A Bit Busy??

So, I am officially, without a doubt, the worst blogger on the planet. It has been 2 months and 19 days since I last blogged. In that last post, I also talked about how terrible of a blogger I was!! Ha So I am going to do a general summary of the past few MONTHS! GEEEZZZ!

August:

Well, when I last posted on August 1st, I had just started a new job at Homer Skelton Ford. I was finally starting to get the hang of how things worked around there. By mid-August I was starting to get to know everyone and making a few friends here and there. I started my Senior year of High School and was very excited! I only have two classes so I only go to school for 3 hours!! WOW!!! I get like 4 hours to just do whatever before I go into work. Pretty easy Senior Year if ya ask me! One big event that happened in August was the AMAZING 21st BIRTHDAY PARTY OF MARK MINYARD! One of my closest friends had an awesome dance party with friends from all over! It was a lot of fun! Another big event(or more like 5) was the amazing week I spent with one of my closest girl friends, JoJo!!! Or as you all may know her, Olivia!! HA the week before she left for school I went to her house everyday for a week and we would just lay around and talk, then watch any movie that would make us laugh. Those usually were ones with Amanda Bynes acting in them;) It was such a great week of fellowship for me. It was an honor that she spent her last week of summer with me:) HA After that I really just tried to get back in the swing of school and work as much as I could. Nothing else really big really happened!

September:
Well September was busy as well. Spent most of my time working! Mostly at Homer Skelton but I am still babysitting a little and doing Thirty One Gifts as well. My sister joined a Book Club with my mom and some of her friends here. So she started coming down every first weekend of the month. So I got to see her, Reece and Mclaine which was amazing as usual. Those two kids are the brightest part of my life! They are amazing and for those of you who do not have the pleasure of being an aunt or uncle, I am truely sorry. Everyone should get this chance!! HA

Well the next few weeks were kinda chill. My parents were still going back and forth to Atlanta for Brandon so mainly, it was just Ryan and I. We had fun together though. However then, on September 28, that all changed! Because...
BRANDON CAME HOME! Yay! I left Sheperd and came home to live with us! Ill admit It was been an adjustment, but we are all so glad that he is home and no one has to travel anymore! A few days after he came home, we had a huge Open House, Welcome Home/30th Birthday Party for Brandon. All his friends and family could come over and see him for the first time! It was so great! Lindsey, Jason and the kids came in and people brought food and helped us set up so we barely did anything! Our church family is so fantastic! I will give a shout-out for two friends that made this day so easy and stress free for me! Laura Kinard and Anna Kate Minyard! The two of them got there and helped set up, stayed the whole time and then helped clean up afterwards! It was an amazing testimony and they are such wonderful friends.  Anna Kate is such a great friend. Her and Reece are getting close which is really exciting for me! Over the Summer, when I was up in Nashville visiting my sister, Reece and I Skyped with Anna Kate. So now, Reece calls her Computer Girl!! It is fantastic and I love it. This is the two of them at Brandon's party! Thats really it for September!

October

I know October is not over yet, but I figure I'll go ahead and recap what has happened so far this month. For starters, let me just say that I can not believe it is already the 20th! Well I started off October in a pretty acceptable fashion;) Ha I WENT TO THE BEACH! With my sister and the two kids for my cousin Miller's wedding. I was tagging along to provide childcare services;) We flew, with two kids.....That was an adventure! ha but luckily my sister and I didnt want to kill each other in the end so we much have been doing something right! ha:) My favorite part was definitely getting to spend SO much time with Reece and Mclaine! The only wedding-related event that I went to was the rehersal dinner and that was sooo much fun! The wedding was in Tampa but the theme for the dinner was Memphis Bar B Que...OK!! ha I loved getting to see all my family. Especially my cousin Jaime becuase we never see each other because she lives about 4 hours away!

That was really nice to see her and everyone else! I just didnt have time to get a picture with all of them;)  The next morning L, R, M and I went to breakfast at the cutest little beach-side Cafe ever! It was fun to get out and spend time together without being in an airport! Then that afternoon Reece, Mclaine and I just hung around while the actually wedding and reception were going on. We just hung out at the condo and played games, watched movies, enjoyed vacation! Ha then on friday, my Aunt Lori watched Mclaine so that Lindsey, Reece and I could go to the beach and spend time together. So we did!  We spent time on the beach chasing eachother, finding seashells and playing in the water. I think on a few occasions Reece and I broke out into song right on the shore...Aint no thang:) HA I could spend all day on the beach and I could definitely spend all day with Reece! Anyway, afterwards Lindsey went back to the condo to relieve Aunt Lori, and I, got to take my little man to lunch and a beach-side restaurant! We had fun!

Then we had to go back to the condo and get packed for our late-night-flight! HA On the way there we had flown in the morning, now we didnt even head for the airport until 3 PM! EEEEKKK! good luck please! It was a little more hectic on the way back, which was my fault. See at the restaurant earlier I had ordered fried clams, Which is something I usually eat when I am at the beach. I did not realize that my body had changed and I had developed a clam allergy over the past year. So on our first flight back, I might have taken advantage of the little white bag on the plane. Not.Fun. The second flight went much more smoothely for everyone. Mclaine and Reece slept the whole time! Ha
But when we landed......
We had one happy baby!!!  Which was a huge blessing! However, it was like 50 degrees in Memphis when we landed..and raining! Not very nice welcome home weather. Especially when you are coming home from the beach;)
I have just been working a lot the past few weeks(And a LOT next week) However this week I took of for a few days because....I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL! shocker. ha no. long story short: I had Strep and a Viral Infection at the same time. They gave me too many drugs and it made my blood pressure drop and I passed out and re-tore some tendons in my ankle. I am in a boot again but I am much better! Ha Thats All. Wow, glad I could catch up! Ill try to be better about Blogging on time!!

Mid Weekly Wrap-Up!

(Mid) Weekly Wrap-Up

So I pretty much the worst blogger on the planet. In my last blog (July 16) I said i was planning on doing a weekly wrap up, which i was planning on doing. However, I failed to do so.

So, to compensate, I decided to do a weekly wrap up, on a wednesday this week, instead of on a saturday.

So on Monday, I decided...Im going to paint my room. So i have taken everything off my walls and moved everything to the middle of my room, and when i get off work tonight I am going to get the paint and tomorrow....Its execution time!! Haha Just playing...but i do plan on finishing it tomorrow night!!!

Along with that...If i dont finish, Lindsey and the Kids will have to sleep in the living room because they are coming in town this weekend!!!! YAY!!!! Always love to see my sister and the kids!!!

I did the nanny thing on tuesday morning then worked on my room yesterday afternoon. Then last night, Anna Kate and I had a mellow tuesday...since she was busy on monday night! We did our nails, as usual! Then instead of a ovie, which is the normal routine, we watched the olympics. And let me tell you, The Minyard family is quite enthusiastic about their Olympics!! haha i loved it!!! I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

Today Was busy!! I finished the preps for my room, drove to Germantown, Picked out my senior pictures, find out I had to work, Rushed to OB(After going to sonic for lunch), got gas, went to bethany's house to change to save gas and money and time, then rushed into work!!! Now I have an hour and half left then I have to go do a few things at church then go get my paint!!!!! (Just in case you all wanted to know every detail of my life!) I start my senior year of High School in 5 days and I am soooo excited! I cant wait. I get out of school at 11:43 everyday!!!! AHHH! what will i do with all my time!

So sorry About this little mid weekly wrap up! Love you guys and God Bless!!

MY NEW JOB! (Adding to the list of mini-adventures)

Homer Skelton Ford
This will be a short post:)

So adding to the madness in my life, I got a new job last wednesday:) It sort-of came out of nowhere. However, you are reading the words of the new receptionist at Homer Skelton Ford. I trained for three days and today i worked for the first time by myself. I am very nervous but i think its a lot of fun!

Ok I had to stop for like 10 minutes to make drive out tags(the blue tags on the back of new cars), cut strips of some papers and answer the phone 8 times! hah ok!

Its a fun job and it gives me experience in something i have never done before! Maybe I'll work my way up to sales;) Ha just kidding...I already do that too!

Ha! Hope everyone is doing alright and I am planning on doing a weekly wrap-up on saturday!!

My Annual Adventure Week, Part 2

To Hendersonville we go!

Well here it is, July 3rd, time to go to Lindsey and Jason's new home in Hendersonville!! I haven't even seen the house yet so I'm very excited to go up there for over a week!!The car ride it's self was quite interesting. Stopping every thirty minutes for Reece. (See, he just started potty training and he was wearing big boy underwear. So, easy to say, we weren't taking any risks!) So even though they moved like 3 1/2 hours closer, it still took us about 5 1/2 hours to get home!
So  my first night there, we went to Red Robin for dinner! It was very delicious! Lindsey and I split something, of course, and Reece was a hoot like usual. Pretty good night!

OK- July 4th!!! (Fun fact: Without directly planning it, I have been with Lindsey on July 4th for the past 3 or 4 years!) So, I get up with Reece at 6:30, as usual when I'm with them, make some coffee, put in a movie for him and read until they get up! We had breakfast then decided to go to the neighborhood pool. (nicest neighborhood i have ever seen) We swam for a little over an hour. Lindsey and I got to tan (for our annual summer tan competition), Jason played the social butterfly meeting interesting neighbors and Reece just swam with his little noodle! Mclaine (I'll often refer to her as Sooka!) just slept most of the time! After that, we went home cleaned up, then Lindsey and I decided to go to Sam's to get stuff for a 4th Cook-Out! ( Since L and J just moved to the area, they don't know a lot of people, so we just did a family thing this year!) So we came home to start cooking while Jason did the steaks. Last minute we decided to make chocolate covered strawberries!! YUM!! We had steak, loaded potato skins, white cheese dip and chips, and fresh corn! Later that night when the kids were in bed, L, J, and I went to the bonus room and watched Country Strong. We had cheese-cake bites and strawberries! We did good! Ha

Thursday was just a relax and play day!! Here are some pics!

Reece is trying to share his Woody obsession with Mclaine a little too early, dontcha think?

Trying to recreate a pic of me when i was a baby. Boots and underwear....every child's dream!

Then came the weekend, Time to go back to our old home...Danville, Ky!!!! We got to stay with Reece's Kentucky family...the Lanhams!! His PopPops and Kelly! We got there on Friday night and ate at Cracker Barrel with Mark(PopPops)! Then, there was Saturday, and you dont know busy until you try to see all your friends in one day! Ha We had Breakfast at the Lanham's then we had brunch with the Ladds. Their old pastor's family. We are very close to them. Then we went to Subway with Kelli Float and her 3 daughters and sat in there for almost 2 1/2 hours! Ha! Then, we went to the pool at the Country Club with Heather and Pete Marra, their two sons, Peter and Max, and heather's cousin Carina! That was Fun! Ha then we all went back to the house to get ready for dinner with The Four! The Four is four couples that have gotten very close over the past 3 years. Consists of The Millers, Marras, Ladds, and the Martins! Also, all their children, and about once or twice a year...Me! We went to Guadalajara...or Guadalahut for dinner! (There are 3 Gauds in Danville..so we have nicknames for all 3 so we know which one we are talking about. Guadalamart because its near walmart, Dirty-Guad..cause its crappy and Gaudalahut because it used to be a pizza hut!) Anyway, after that, we went to the Marras so that Pete and Jason could practice piano together for fun! Sunday we went to our old church and then had Lunch with Mark Lanham and Kelly before we had to go! At church we heard Rana Samuel, a missionary in India speak and share how their share the gospel in a 90% hindu country! very interesting! Then we went back to Hendersonville!

Monday and Tuesday mainly consisted of us unpacking some boxes, cleaning the house, and getting ready to say goodbye:( Oh and Me raiding Lindsey's closet for some cute clothes to take back home with me!) Monday we took Reece to the Rain Forest Cafe! It was a treat for him being in big boy underwear for a month!( ironically he went in his pants twice the next day!) L and J waited until I was there so I could be a part of it and I am so glad that they did! He was so excited! He was jumping around and looking at the animals the whole time! It didn't freak him out at all! He even touched the elephant's trunk to prove he was brave!  Mclaine however, didn't like when it would "storm"! Her eyes would get so wide when the lights would flicker on and off! So hilarious! We thought there was going to be a light show at the hotel at 9. So after dinner we walked all the way over to the hotel, just to fund out it was cancelled because of some meeting! Oh well, good exercise! ha! We walked around and got some ice cream then headed back home!

Tuesday was  my last day and I didn't want to do anything special, despite what Lindsey Thought. I just wanted to be there. So we just had a nice morning then went shopping a little. Got a red box for that night. Jason Cooked out for my last night! We had steak, salad, and baked potatoes! It was delicious! Hah Then the kids went to bed! Lindsey and I watched Jack and Jill with some cheese-cake bites. (That movie was terrible!) Meanwhile, Jason helped proof my resume! ha He is really good at it! We went to bed, it was hard for me to sleep, knowing it was my last night there for a while! :(  Reece got me up the next morning..again! It was a pleasant morning. Lindsey and I got the car and the kids ready and we pulled out of the driveway at 9:09 am. Went to chick-fila and Starbucks for breakfast, returned our movie and hit the road!  Took us awhile to get home...again! We stopped in Barlett to have lunch with my aunt and my mom on the way to Southaven. It was fun! I went to church last night while Lindsey and the kids stayed home for a family dinner. Came home, Watched Fresh Prince with L then went to bed.

Then came this morning...goodbye! Of course, Reece and I played like 5 year olds. Jumping around, chasing each other, and tickle fights. Mclaine was asleep through all this. Lindsey and my mom talked books for a while too. When it came time for them to hit the road...it got hard! But They will be back in a few weeks so I have something to look forward to! It was a great week and I am looking forward to more adventures in Hendersonville with the Millers! Love you!!

On the way back to Southaven!

My Annual Adventure Week, Part 1

The Southaven adventures of part 1: Lindsey, Reece and Mclaine come home!

Well last Saturday, June 30, the three of them came in to town for a weekend, and eventually to take me back to TN with them when they go home! Since they have moved, they have cut their driving time in half, so they got here before noon! It was so exciting! so we had lunch, then we went swimming at Leigh Anne's house for what was supposed to be just an hour or two. However, that didn't happen so we had dinner with them!! Ha My parents were in Atlanta and Ryan was at a friends house so we really didn't have anything else to do. So that was a fun day with Leigh Anne, Drew and Hannah!!

Sunday, of course, we went to church! That was fun! MY mom got back in town and ryan came home so we all got to go together! Me, Lindsey and the kids stayed for lunch then they went home while i worked on VBS stuff. Then, after i got home we all went to the Rucker's house to swim with their whole family! Later that night, Bethany and Anna Grace surprised me by stopping by my house for a visit. We all sat in the living room and talked then the three of us decided to go and have some fun! We went to Walgreens and didn't get anything!! Then we went to the dip! We all ended up spending the night together at Bethany's house!

We all got up the next morning and went to iHop! It was very yummy! We obviously had a waitress that had just started working there so went had breakfast and entertainment;) ha
After, we had to take AG home so she could ready for work so Bethany and I got bored before we even pulled out of her neighborhood. We really wanted to go swimming but neither of us have a pool so we had to go POOL HUNTING!! We knew that Leigh, LIndsey and the kids were going swimming at another friend's house so we decided to go to Leigh's. Drew was inside studying the whole time so we just stayed in the backyard to tan and swim for like 2 1/2 hours. Then we went back to my house for her to get ready for work. She got to hold Mclaine for the first time (she was asleep when she come over the night before!) It was a great ending to a fun day!

THen that night a babysat Reece and Mclaine while LIndsey and Mom went to book club! it was interesting!

Then came Tuesday, Lindsey the kids and I are going to Hendersonville Tennessee!! Haha Finally!!!!!!

More on our adventures coming soon!!

Mexico 2012!

Mexico
(May 24th- June 1st)

Where do I even begin?? This was my second year in Cordoba, Mexico at the Mexican-Indian Training Center (MITC)! My number one goal this year- To have a better relationship with not only the people I am going with, but the students at the school! The week started off great. I was, of course, on the paint crew. This year I was accompanied by John and Janet Crawford, Olivia Wilbanks, and Anna Kate Minyard. It was sooo much fun! We laughed so much in the long hours in the sun! Talking about everything from the Beatles to She's the Man! We painted a whole building in just the first day. (Little Secret: The first week only painting one building all week!..just sayin').I think all week, we completed 4 whole buildings! It was amazing!

When we weren't painting, we were doing anything from going to the soccer fields, or to the local orphanage, or to one of the many churches associated with the school. The soccer fields is something all the guy students ad staff do every monday! It is very true what people say about Mexicans being good at soccer!! Then there is the orphanage, one of my top memories of the trip!!When I am with kids, it is so easy for me to speak Spanish!! Of course, I was put in charge of all things balloons, again! I loved being able to make something for all the kids to play with. We played a version of follow-the-leader witht he balloons! It was so much fun for us and the kids!

Then there are the many churches that we went to!! Early on in the week, it was very obvious that the youth of our group were going to be singing at some of the churches. Turns out, we sang at least song at every church service we went to. Mark on guitar, Anna Kate and I with vocals and Laura with flute and vocals. We sang Day by Day and Victory in Jesus. Anna Kate and Mark did a few songs on the side but mostly we sang together! We sang Day by Day a total of around 10 times in the week were there. Let's just say we got really good at singing together!

Through all this, There is the time we are at the school just hangin'! Meal Times at 6, 2 and 7 are the best times to get to know the students. I definitely achieved my goal!! From inside jokes about guys with Eunice, to Perry el ornidorrinco with Lewis to just laughing about anything with Narahim; I made long life friends this summer! Another time to get to know the students is clean up time after every meal! From scrapping excess food to drying to putting away, you always have contact with someone else! The mexicans stand at four sink and bleach, scrape, clean and rinse so quickly, youre almost never standing still. Sometimes, if youre lucky, they will let you help in the washing process. Its amazing!

Literally could write about memories and details all night, but my battery is running out so, yeah. The Lord helped our group in so many ways and blessed our trip. I not only feel closer to the students but the people I went down there with. I love it down there and hope to return next summer.

The Fabulous 5! We all got really close on the trip! (Olivia, Laura, Mark, Anna Kate, then Me!)

P.S. This post was supposed to be Mexico and Bonnarroo but i couldnt stop writing so. Wait for another post on Bonnarroo!!

The Thing I Do Best:)

Sitting at my second home, just put Haven and Stone to bed for the night. It's funny. I can still remember the first time that I ever babysat. It was in 2008, when i was 13, and I did it like once or twice a month. Now, on normal weeks, I am working sometimes 53 hours a week, just babysitting! It is for sure, something i want to do for the rest of high school, maybe some in college too! Definitely considering working with kids for the rest of my career!
When I go to the Barker's house, it's basically like going to a friend's house for a few hours. I have been babysitting this particular family for alittle over a year now and it has been amazing! Micah(11, seen in picture) is practically my little sister now!! However, a year ago, she seemed so quiet and shy. Turns out, she is funny, sweet and the most sarcastic little 'thang' I have ever seen!! I wouldn't change her one bit! Except, maybe make her alittle closer to my age! Haven is her little sister, who has just turned 5! From the first moment I met her, I could see that she was going to be a hand-full! She is cute, sassy, and such a girly-girl! I love her to death. It took us a while to get to know one another, but when we did...it was, as she would say, "Magic!"!! I remember one day I got to the house to watch the kids, i literally stepped one foot in the door and she comes running towards me yelling "Babysitter!!!!!!!!". It was the cutest thing ever!!! Took her about a good 6 months to really remember my real name! Ha. Then there is Stone, wow. Looking back, he was such a little baby back then, not even a year. I have gotten to see him learn to crawl then walk, sign then talk, sit in a high-chair then a booster! It's so cool to be able to watch kids grow and learn. Now he is almost 2!!! I can't believe it!

Of course, these are not the only kids I babysit. I have probably babysat over 15 different families kids at different times. Not all as often as the Barkers though. I am currently a FULL-TIME nanny, watching 2 boys for 10 hours a day monday-friday! That has been a very interesting experience so far. One that I have definitely learned from!Sometimes it is very hard to deal with the kids, but i know it is where God needs me right now! When i first started babysitting, i started with the Strouds. Wow! Almost 5 years ago! I have definitely watch those girls grow up! At one point, I was watching those girls twice a week!! Its crazy! (Sorry this paragraph was kinda all over the place!)

Next is Hannah! Oh boy, where do I start with this one?? She is the daughter of my sister's best friend, Leigh Anne. She was born on March 31, 2008:) She is so bright and funny! The most silly kid I know!! I love when we all get together too. Lindsey, Leigh Anne, Drew(Her husband) Reece(below), Hannah and Me! We always have so much fun!
With all this, I also get the priviledge of being an aunt, to 4!!!! Reece was my first! He was born on July 31, 2009! He is most def related to me!! Pretty much from the moment he was born, his face had sarcasim written ALL OVER IT!! hah he is such a joy and I can't wait to watch him grow up more and became a  young 'gent'! Then, not even four months later, Kinlee Amelia was born on November 6! She was a gorgeous baby that was so cuddly! Great addition to the family She has become so smart and sassy! Just like her May-May! (what the kids call me!)
Well, for about 19 months, we got to enjoy our little Reece and Kinlee. Then Kathryn Elizabeth came along! On June 14, 2011, she came into the world with bang! She is the most chubby, sweet, chubby, cudly baby ever!!! Oh, and she is chubby!!! hah. She really is a great baby!! She only cries when she is hungry. when she is tired, she just lays down....where ever she is!! If she is in the middle of crawling somewhere and she gets tired...she lays down!!! Hah its so awesome! Then, we almost went a year without a baby, but then Mclaine Nicole Miller was born! On April 27, 2012, the new 'Kevin" of the family arrived. She was 10 lbs 9 oz!! ha 1 oz bigger than my brother kevin, who is big!

Well, hopefully from this first post, you will be able to tell what I love doing! I love to be with children!! God showed me my love and skill for caring for kids when i was young. I have always known i want to work with kids. However, to this day, im not sure exactly what. I know He will show me soon, I hope!!! Watching kids my last summer in High School!!!...a Lot! hah But it is what I want to do the most!
